it was so nice to be woken by pouring rain this morning.

one more sleep
i spoke to veda on the phone for a minute the other morning
she sounded so happy and grown up ...that was a relief and slightly panic inducing..how am i going to be when she wants to travel further for longer as she gets older? im not ready.
in the mean time i have spent my day planting poppies and parsley and oregano and granny bonnets. i pulled out weeds and replaced them with seedlings. .... now they had better hurry up and grow before the weeds come back. speaking of growing it was 29 degrees today. so hot for autumn
tomorrow we are making a cake for our girl.
my making of anything fabric is being hampered by the fact that my new overlocker has come unthreaded and im too impatient to sit down and give it some of my time--like i have a shortage of it in the day time. i need new clothes. so i will make peace with the overlocker soon.
we have a four day long weekend. so perfectly nice. if i had my caravan we could have gone away in it. im still looking :)

Lovely Mail
well I was thinking that my pin cushion may be in the mail and so each day as i drove (around the block a few kilometres usually on the way back from dropping the kids off at school) i was a little excited to open our old rusty milk can letter box to hopefully find a parcel instead of bills.
well on this day i figured we were late for school anyway so we went to the letter box before school.
and the parcel was waiting inside for me. happy happy happy. i sat there in the car unwrapping and giggling and the kids soaked up the joy of what had happened. we were very late for school, but the kids had learnt alot right there in the car already.
isnt my pin cushion the coolest? an egg carton! so clever! with beautiful pins!
lovely Jo from Violet and Rose made it and wrapped it so beautifully. she also sent presents for the kids with a very sweet note.
I love swapping. And kindness.
Thankyou again Jo :-)
Sunday
party
Thursday
six
the birthday girl had a wonderfully happy birthday. we wagged school, because we could and because everyone should have a holiday on their birthday! it was a perfect day.
we are all now a little exhausted. we need to re-energise for the party on the weekend. birthdays usually last a week in our house :) i cant actually believe we've only been back at school for three days. it feels like three weeks which isn't a good sign!
i've sent more easter eggs to my sis in japan because the first lot are most definitely lost.....and testing fate, i didn't pay an extra five dollars to insure or track the parcel. surely it can't happen twice. and i refuse to insure easter eggs.
tomorrow i will send my pincushion off.....its not officially late but jeepers....i hope my swap-ee gets it in time.
tonight the papier mache pinata is drying in front of the wood heater. yep we have fire warmth in the house. i love it. i dont love the kids begging for cooked on the fire marshmallows every night though ;-) the pinata was going to be a pink flower....but now im getting carried away with the idea and thinking about making it look like an echinacea flower. the balloon is the perfect shape for it. i love pinatas. i love papier mache too. amelie the parisian princess would not help me make it, even though she wanted to..because she didnt want to get her fingers sloppy messy sticky. she has always been this way. so funny, my sweet six year old.
off to do some party making ...goodnight :)
Monday
last official holiday
the kids scored an extra school holiday because the school planned it that way.
tomorrow they may well possibly have another one because its amelies 6th birthday and in our family if its your birthday....you get to choose what to do with your day. and what to eat. etc....
amelie my little social butterfly school lover is a little torn. she wants to go to school but wants to stay home. im going to choose stay home for her. selfish mumma i am. we can play all day and then she goes dancing in the afternoon. then home to have birthday tea. nice.
and being the brother and sister of birthday girl, sindri and veda can stay home to play too. and really, this afternoon they have made tipis, woven grass, cooked damper (mush) , yesterday they tried to save a baby sparrow. today they skated at the skate park. who needs school anyway? not on your birthday when you are 6 i say.
Sunday
little bird
the kids were outside looking for stuff to make a skateboard ramp with and ended up coming inside with a tiny sparrow in their little hands. she had fallen (or was kicked) out of her nest.
Veda has named her Sunday and Amelie has named her Monday. We have droppered water into her mouth and the kids put her in the willy wagtail nest that we have. She's very tiny...I don't think she will survive the night....but the kids are hope-full. .. as they are, my sweethearts.

Friday
across the ocean
pillows and pouchs for everything were made by Sindri who has conquered my sewing machine (and an old skateboard)
and these are some beautiful kangaroo paws waiting to be planted.
it is my little sisters birthday today...i was hoping today was going to be the day that the easter eggs i sent her for easter which havent arrived yet would at least arrive today. we fear the worst....that some rotten person along the postal journey from australia to japan has eaten them....but i havent given up hope yet and think maybe they will arrive next week. fingers crossed.
Tuesday
pin cushion
on an easter egg high, on Sunday night i stitched a pin cushion for my swap partner in Kates pin cushion swap. it looks a little easter-y dont you think. i hope my partner needs a little pink in her sewing space :) and oh im such a messy stitcher. no surprise really. hehee...
and now im going to sit here in the kids-have-gone-to -bed quiet and listen to the sweet sound of rain on our tin roof.
i planted our gingko tree today. shes been living in a pot for a few years now. i hope shes enjoying stretching her roots.
tomorrow the planning of a birthday party for our soon to be 6 year old baby Amelie.. gulp. ^!^
Sunday
Rushworth is a sweet town
and now here we are its Easter Sunday. we've been so busy pulling our backyard to pieces and then laying some luscious green grass. .. . Easter has snuck up on us. I never knew how nice it would be to have a big flat piece of grass. to look at tree shadows on . to walk(run) on with bare feet. the sand pit has new sand after being weed ridden for years. its nice nice nice.
i have blisters on my hands and my farmer boy is back in bed exhausted. my body was so tired after two days of digging and lifting....he must need a year to rest his weary body.
its a perfect autumn day....and its school holidays...and there is way too much chocolate in our house...and some red parrots visited me this morning.
happy easter x
